Career Technical Education (CTE) Definitions:

  • Career Technical Education: Career technical education is a term applied to schools, institutions, and educational programs that specialize in the skilled trades, applied sciences, modern technologies, and career preparation.

  • Sector: a grouping of businesses or companies that operate in the same segment of the economy or share a similar product type.

  • Pathway: the specific courses, academic programs, and learning experiences that individual students complete as they progress in their education towards certification or graduation

  • Introduction Course: The first set of classes in a series of coursework specific to a pathway.

  • Concentration Course: The intermediate level of classes in a series of coursework specific to a pathway.

  • Capstone Course: The culminating classes in a series of coursework specific to a pathway.
