Go Hounds!

For Valentine’s Day at AHS,

PAWS and ASB worked together to do what’s called a “marking”.

This is where every single student is recognized by name,

in this case on posters arranged

their classes.

Way to be a Hound!

7th Grade Advanced Math Class

"House Plans Project"

After students in the 7th grade Advanced Math class learned about area and area of composite figures, they got to create a culminating project to emphasize

those math skills.

Students designed a dream house of their choice

(with some parameters and specific expectations).

They found the area of each room and the total area

of their house. In addition, students calculated

the total cost of their dream house using average

state costs per square foot.

Finally, students researched careers of interest

and potential salaries to identify the

affordability of their dream houses.

The Reality Tour® program brings AUSD families, middle/high school students, educators, local law enforcement and community volunteers to the table; and together we create a powerful experience that can influence the conversations and choices of our teens for years to come.

Reality Tour allows youth and families the opportunity to discuss peer pressure, substance abuse & mental health concerns unique to our community. Based on our overwhelming response last year, this year we will have two possible dates to attend. Please use this LINK for more information about the event and how to register yourself, and your students, for this powerful night. Options for dates include Monday, February 26th and Monday, March 11th from 6-7:30PM at Atascadero Lake Park. Dinner will be served to participants. Space is limited, so sign up soon!
