Atascadero Fine Arts Academy Independent Studies
Grades 6-8
F.A.A is rising with the Monarchs!
Developing an independent student learner in the
context of home and school-connectedness.
The middle grades present unique opportunities and challenges as your child goes through many physical and mental changes. During the middle grades, we partner with you to help students become self-aware, motivated, and independent learners. At Fine Arts Academy, the parent remains the primary teacher; however, students are introduced to rigorous online courses that prepare them for increased independence at the high school level.
Choices:
-
Independent Study: Parent supervises child while the child learns from an online platform, is self-paced, and supported weekly by a teacher.
-
Hybrid Model: Student completes some subjects on an online platform, and also attends some classes and activities at the Fine Arts Academy.
Rigorous Instruction
- Students engage in instructional activities that are enhanced through online opportunities.
-
Core learning is designed to meet the individual needs of students, with options for acceleration and remediation that prepare the student for high school level courses.
Hybrid Opportunities
- Choose from a wide variety of electives at the Atascadero Fine Arts Academy
- Develop your own "passion" elective options with your teacher.
Enrichment
- Participate in any district-wide offerings, such as Band, Choir, PE, or sports.
